Calculation specification

Formula basis

denominationTotalYen=Σ(denomination×count for that denomination), countedCashYen=denominationTotalYen+otherYen, differenceYen=countedCashYen−expectedCashYen, and estimatedCashSalesYen=countedCashYen−openingFloatYen+cashPaidOutYen. Amounts are rounded to whole yen, and counts are truncated to nonnegative integers.

Calculation method

This arithmetic cash-register closing tool totals the counts of every denomination from ¥1 to ¥10,000 plus otherYen, calculates the difference from expectedCashYen, and estimates cash sales from openingFloatYen and cashPaidOutYen.

Exclusions and checks required

  • Because expectedCashYen is not retrieved automatically from the ledger and the entered value is compared as-is, the tool cannot detect cash inflows, outflows, or opening-float entries omitted from the ledger.
  • estimatedCashSalesYen does not separately handle cash received during business, change exchanges, bank deposits, refunds, or tips; it uses only countedCashYen−openingFloatYen+cashPaidOutYen.
  • The tool does not support authenticating banknotes or coins, foreign currencies, gift certificates, electronic money, or reconciliation by safe or staff member.

expectedCashYen

openingFloatYen

cashPaidOutYen

The cash on hand is ¥116,880, the ledger difference is ¥0, and estimated cash sales are ¥88,880, but this does not prove that the ledger entries are correct or that accounting has been completed.
