Formula basis

Under after2024, the first and second children under age 3 receive JPY 15,000, children from age 3 through high school receive JPY 10,000, and the third and subsequent children receive JPY 30,000. before2024 totals JPY 10,000, JPY 15,000, JPY 5,000, or zero according to age, birth order, and incomeStatus.

Calculation method

Calculates the child allowance by selecting either the expanded system from October 2024 or the former system from October 2022 through September 2024.

Exclusions and checks required

  • The age, custody, and financial-support conditions for older siblings that determine third-child status are not evaluated automatically.
  • Eligibility conditions such as birth or relocation month, institutional placement, public employment, and income-assessment year are excluded.
