Formula basis

Apply the ageGroup and incomeCategory ceiling formula to totalMedicalCostYen, then reimbursement = max(0, actualPaidYen - maximumCopay) and finalCopay = actualPaidYen - reimbursement.

Calculation method

Calculates the expected reimbursement using monthly ceilings by age and income category for treatment from August 2018 through July 2026.

Exclusions and checks required

  • Household aggregation, the JPY 21,000 threshold, repeated high-cost treatment, designated diseases, and annual ceilings are not handled.
  • The new ceilings from August 1, 2026 are not supported, and invalid age and income category combinations cannot be calculated.
