Uses sex and prefecture as keys into a reference table of 2022 (Reiwa 4) figures and displays the matching row.
Calculation method
Shows the reference healthy life expectancy (years without daily activity limitations) and the reference period with daily activity limitations, by sex and prefecture.
Exclusions and checks required
Healthy life expectancy is a prefecture-level statistic calculated once every three years from the Comprehensive Survey of Living Conditions; it does not predict any individual's remaining healthy years.
The 'period with activity limitations' is a reference comparison only, since prefecture life expectancy (calculated every 5 years) and healthy life expectancy (every 3 years) are not calculated in the same year.
